The recent rain fall continues to affect many parts of Britain, with lots of people stranded and without homes.
As the rain keeps falling and people are losing their homes there is one clever caravan sites that gets it right the second-time round. Weir Meadow in Evesham has shown just how to be prepared when the rain causes floods by installing floating devices and anchored concertina supports to their caravans.
The Weir Meadow Park in Evesham, Worcestershire is known for its fishing qualities and access to the banks of the Weir but after the mass rainfall, both the Weir and River Avon combined to create one huge flow of water. The two are normally separate parts of the river, the River Avon which is used for barges and boats and the Weir where the water would normally sink down.
After suffering from the floods in 2007, the caravan site has installed the high-tech devices to prevent the same problems striking twice. The caravans should have been eight-foot deep under water but for these devices which help the caravans to rise on top on the surface and save them from damage.
IT & Marketing Director of Allens Caravans Estates Ltd, Joe Folkes said: “This is the first time the floatation devices have been fully tested since their installation in 2007. There is still a lot of water on-site so the damage can’t be fully assessed, but it’s looking promising at the moment.”
Strong winds and heavy rain is continuing to batter many parts of the country and these people may not be as prepared or fortunate as those at the Weir Meadow Park. With more rain and wind predicted throughout Britain, many people will be looking for ways of shelter and preventing losing their property.
Unfortunately, forecasters are predicting the worse is still yet to come are have issued flood warnings in various locations.
