Building and Transporting Methods
The major difference between manufactured homes and modular homes is the way they are built and transported. While modular houses are built on the home site, manufactured homes are built in the factories. Once a manufactured home has been built, they are purchased by various land owners after which these homes are transported to their destinations. Unlike the modular houses, manufactured homes are carried on the chassis, which is their foundation.
Structure and Size of Both Types
There is a huge difference between manufactured homes and modular houses when it comes to their structures and sizes. While manufactured homes only vary in width, and come in single, double and triple-wide options, modular homes come in all sizes. Since traditional mobile homes are installed on the chassis foundation, they don’t usually have more than one floor as there isn’t much support available to build multiple levels. On the other hand, modular houses can be built with several levels without any difficulty. However, it is important to remember that unlike many traditional mobile homes; today there are many manufactured homes out there that hold multiple levels.

There is a huge difference between traditional mobile homes and manufactured houses of current times. Mobile homes and modular homes mean the same but the difference relies within the features they provide to their users. Unlike the past when mobile homes were only acquired because they were ‘mobile’, or extremely cheap when compared to modular houses, today the meaning of mobile homes has been entirely changed. In modern mobile homes or manufactured homes you get all the luxuries that you get in a modular home and there is almost nothing that modular houses have that manufactured houses don’t.
There definitely are a lot of differences between manufactured homes and modular homes but there aren’t as many as there used to be in past.
